People enjoy interactive charts. RStudio offers Shiny apps which require running R to support it so I find that complicated. Instead of a Shiny application it’s possible to embed a D3 visualisation into R markdown files. Going from R code to D3 is not a small step and getting the hang takes a long time but there is inspiration to be found here
The visualization below was forked and adapted from a Github repository. It represents length and weight measurements that were taken as a part of a monitoring program of some of the main catch species in Iceland, cod and haddock.
The useless regression line does look odd and a power curve is more appropriate for this data. A power corve is useful for spotting outliers when skimming through the data. The graph below has the desired power regression lines.
Next up on my list is to figure out how to get the power curves into D3.
